HOMEMADE FRIED CHICKEN
Hope you are all having a great week.
I do like a KFC treat every now and then, but cannot help but feel guilty every time I have some. The same questions always run through my head;
- How old is the oil they are using?
- What is actually in the batter?
- What type of oil is it?
- Is it just full of fat? Ew.
So I decided to try and make my own. And it was great!
What you need:
- Plain flour
- 1 egg
- Chicken breast
- Salt & Pepper
- Onion powder
- Garlic Powder
|Mix together the flour and spices|
|Slice the chicken into big strips|
Take a piece of chicken, coat it in egg and then roll it into your batter mixture, dip it back into the egg and roll it into the flour once more.
This way your chicken will be super crispy as it will have two coatings rather than one.
I don't know exactly how much of the spices and flour you should use as it depends on the amount of chicken you want to make.
I would start off with 6 tablespoons of flour, and a teaspoon of each spice and salt.
Fry in the oil of your choice, on a medium heat for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Ensure your oil is hot before you drop your chicken in. Cut your first piece in half to ensure it has cooked all the way through. Leave them to drain for a minute then serve with whatever you wish!
